I've been seeing on their FB page that large numbers of people haven't received their tickets yet. Some may not get them before they have to leave for their trip to Austin, and COTA is allowing people to pick up their tickets at will-call if they don't get them in time. I am guessing this will lead to thousands of people at the ticket offices (which are small) and it may become a giant mess.

So if your plans involve getting your tickets on-site, give yourself plenty of extra time. You may need it.

Just got my tickets in the mail yesterday. Any delay must be because they're coming from London.. at least mine did. They probably should've had a company fulfill them in the states. Anyway, will be going for the first time this year. Everyone I talked to who went last year enjoyed it - whether they were into F1 or not - so feeling optimistic it'll be a good time. Just doing general admission and was planning on bringing lawn chairs and lounging around drinking overpriced alcohol.

It's F1 week, everyone. There was international media at Mack Brown's weekly press conference today, with a British reporter asking about F1:
Mack Brown Press Conference - Oklahoma State Week - Horn Sports – Texas Longhorns football, basketball and baseball (this will no doubt make it into some F1 coverage overseas)

Ticket fiasco, rumors COTA didn't pay the printing bill:
Last year's United States Grand Prix in Austin seemed to go off without a hitch. This year though, with less than a week until the first practice, several Formula One fans are without tickets. - Autoweek

Plus lots more complaining on COTA's FB page:
https://www.facebook.com/CircuitofTh...=wall&filter=2

20-30% chance of rain on race days (they race in the rain, but concerns about muddy parking):
8 Day Forecast - Austin/Round Rock/San Marcos - YNN - Your News Now

Kimi Raikkonen out for the Austin race (back surgery, or Lotus not being able to pay him):
Kimi Raikkonen will miss the Austin and Brazilian GPs in order to have back surgery | Lotus F1 News | Formula 1 Teams | Sky Sports

Rumors that attendance will be way down. Basically, your typical F1 off-track drama.

For those locals that want to enjoy the F1 atmosphere for free, there is the Shell-sponsored F1 Fan Fest Thurs-Sunday downtown. No cost to attend, live music, food trucks and the Austin F1 race will be on a big screen - Austin Fan Fest 2013

Sounds like they listened to complaints about the transportation arrangements.

Interesting that the early arrivals will experience some of the coldest temps since spring...similar to last year's race week. Fortunately, it looks like it should warn nicely into the weekend. Now, if they can just keep the rain away.

Could prove challenging since the temps will swing a good 20 degrees in the second half of the week, according to the weather-guessers.

What can be expected of the traffic on Saturday afternoon, especially the road to the airport?

From which direction? The football game starts mid-afternoon, so those folks should be off the roads at that time. Qualifying at COTA is the first half of the day, with two afternoon races; so those folks shouldn't be on the road except to get to the track a little late if the weather is goofy in the morning.

Tickets for Friday only starting at $1 on StubHub:
United States Grand Prix Friday Only [11/15/2013] Tickets on StubHub!

+15 ticket fee and you have to pick them up. Add the $5 round trip shuttle from downtown, and it's pretty cheap entertainment. Historics, Ferrarri Challenge, and F1 practice on Friday.

Saturday gets more expensive but still going cheap starting at $10:
United States Grand Prix Saturday Only [11/16/2013] Tickets on StubHub!
