Those damn Californians. They get everything first.

Including cars introduced on 7/29/2013 and only available starting in November in Europe.

I was at City Hall when the event occurred. Saw first hand the new i3. Not much in the looks department from my perspective. Not exactly a date magnet like most BMW's.

Or a gas guzzling muscle car.

Oh hang on, I was thinking of BMW's "Active E", which is a 1 series converted to electric... the i3 is a funky little car that isn't nearly as interesting to me.

Actually makes a lot of sense. Long commutes here with short distances so range isn't a problem. If I could afford an electric I'd get one.

When I attended the Zilker "Little Shop of Horrors" play a few weeks ago, the very best unoccupied parking sports were the two "electric only" charging/parking spots closest to the stage. Austin doesn't walk the walk.

Pretty soon, as things are heading, charging/parking spots will outnumber handicap in the "underutilized prime parking" category.

Maybe BMW wants to get into the luxury electric field because of how well Tesla is doing? There seems to be at least some demand for a luxury all-electric. Moreso than for the Chevy Volt which just dropped its price $5K.

Date magnet? Are people really that shallow that they'd be attracted to someone just because they own a "luxury car"?

Oh wait, they are.
