We've been looking at a couple communities with CastleRock homes. I'm not finding many reviews (good or bad) about the builder and homeowner experiences in Austin. Does anyone have any feedback or currently under contract with them?

I was actually condsidering them few months back before I signed with Gehan. They had an issue with falcon pointe area offic location (believe sales guy quit and they were scrambling) this was all going on when we provided information for followup assisatance, never heard back, sent 3-4 emails, no calls returned etc, they were disorganized back then. I really liked their plans, hope they got everything back on track from that isolated situation. Anyways, after that place we found Gehan and the plan was much better for our needs and the budget (plus they include a lot of things that we couldn't afford to upgrade).

Best of luck.

I am currently under contract for a house with them. So far it has been a good experience as a first time home buyer. Tomorrow is our construction meeting so we will see how that goes.

They are the new builders in my sub division and the folks seem to like what they are doing, I know several real estate agents that bought them cause they liked the house and the location.

We loved this builder. Great plans, personable and quick to rectify any issues. No perfect builders is my experience but these guys took great care of us.

Default Horrible Experience

Ive had an absolutely horrible experience. Too many things to list! The foundation was poured wrong, the frame still has issues not corrected, they didnt sheath properly, the roof has serious bumps, the bricks are uneven, the window is not centered, they didnt fix things on either my inspection or their own inspection, etc. etc. They say they fired their construction manager and got a new one, but I doubt it will be much better. 7 months later, they just now delivered the drywall. Im not sure if I will be in this house this year. To top all of that off, they charge for ridiculous things like a lot premium in the middle of street just because it has a field behind it for example. They ignore my requests when it comes to showing me what they fixed, now they drywalled over everything, so to me they are hiding a lot of things. Oh and I forgot to tell you the construction manager told me my house was the lowest priority on his list.

Good luck!

I hope our review helps anyone trying to decide whether or not to build a Castle Rock home. My husband and I were in love with one house. To our dismay, there were some things we didn't find out about the deal until we got ready to sign the contract. SO, of course we didn't sign. I was so disappointed, I called the president of the company just for him to hear me out. I was not angry, or rude...but he was! He kept telling me "I'm not trying to be rude" but he was. I NEVER thought from that level he wouldn't at least hear me. Even if I didn't like the answer he was going to give, or agree with it for that matter, there's a respectful way to talk to people and deal with them. As a first time home buyer, of course you have a lot of questions...just didn't expect that response. Needless to say, we will be finding another builder.

I'm not angry, I'm just trying to help someone make an informed decision. Be careful before you sign on the line!

I know this is a slight thread drift but Gehan was mentioned in here. We will be building with them soon perhaps. I really like the floor plans and the houses. Anyone had any experiences with them during the build process? I have noticed their build time seems to be somewhat shorter than some. I have been told 5 to 5.5 months when most builders have quoted 6 and some even 7 months.

Our realtor recommended we not look at Gehan and she even encouraged us to avoid neighborhoods where Gehan built because of future home values. I didn't look further into it so it may have been a personal bias that she had.

How long ago was this? I haven't seen very many complaints about them.
