Words of wisdom for a family moving to Austin with a 6th grader?
She is laid back, introverted, creative and friendly. We hope to make the transition for her smooth

We'd love to find a school that is more into creative learning, kindness and fun challenges than one that emphasizes standardized testing, sports and stress/pressure.

Thank you so much! (We've always sent her to public school).

do you want to continue to send her to public school? Pretty much every public school in Texas will emphasize standardized testing, there is no getting around that and with very few exceptions, most 6th graders in central texas attend middle schools (6-8th grade) not elementary school.

There are several private and charter schools that come to mind if you are interested in that option!

Default Austin 6th grade

I think I saw that Mathews elementary goes to 6th grade.

I would stick with public school yes. Possibly SW Austin.
