Howdy. I have a doctor's appointment at 9:45 AM Tuesday up on the north end of MOPAC and I'll be driving in from the Houston area on US 290. Good 'ole Uncle Google (maps) suggests coming off 290 onto Parmer lane and run it all the way to MOPAC, my appt. is just a couple blocks south of the Parmer -MOPAC intersection. I am not at all familiar with this area of Austin. Anyone see a 'red-flag' with this route? Better alternative?

Thanks in advance ...

Traffic shouldn't be too bad if you're on Parmer around 9AM. Which side of the 'Mo' will you be visiting? The access road southbound from Parmer can be a little tricky depending on the actual location. If you don't need to cross MoPac, that area(south of Parmer) is a bit congested with lots of retail, fast food, etc. Can you get a lock on the actual address/location? Could make all the difference once you get in the area.

If you're headed toward St. David's complex, you could turn left on Tomanet Tr. or even earlier onto Metric...won't need to cross MoPac.

I'm pretty sure the office I'm headed to is on the west side of MOPAC ... yes, it's on the other side from the big St. DAvids complex, just opposite actually. Ariel photograph shows a back road into the complex from Waters Park Road.

Well, THIS is a fine mess you've gotten us into! You can't access Water's Park Rd from Parmer(The world kinda ends there with the ball fields and Weirdo's Restaurant---you'll see). Your best bet will be to take the MoPac access road south from Parmer...dive quickly into the far right lane(you'll see--be glad it's not rush hour) and turn right on Oneal Ln in order to reach Water's Park Rd--UNLESS you stay on the access road(far right lane) and pick up your location a bit farther down(Waters Park Rd meets the access road AFTER you pass the offices along there). IF you can access your destination directly from the MoPac service road, you'll just need to know which driveway to dive into. Waters Park road will be a calmer way to look for your place . It's not all that bad along there, just a lot of lane jockeying. If you can pull up an earth/satellite shot of the area, you may be able to pinpoint the complex you need.

It's an interesting part of the world along there...flood area, ball fields, dead end roads. If you have baseball/softball/volleyball buds in Austin, they may even know about Weirdo's...they really cater to the 'after the game' crowd. Munchie/bar food kind of lunch, if you are hungry after your appt.
Weirdos
Good luck!

It is probably a toss up as to which is faster. Personally I'd probably stay on 290 to 183 to MoPac and up to Parmer Lane. Rather then deal with the stop lights and slower traffic on Parmer. But either one is workable.
