I need a general practitioner for my elderly mom. I see the fab Dr. Underhill, but she isn't taking new patients. I don't even know if GPs still exist - everyone seems to specialize now. I guess second choice would be a Gastrointerologist. Anyway, i would like someone off of 2222 and Mopac, or thereabouts.

Robert Raley, MD
2301 W. North Loop
512-452-2506

Or
Aline Zeringue, RN, APRN
Same address/phone

My personal preference would be Aline (nurse practitioner) but Dr. Raley is good too.

GP refers to a physician who only has one year of residency training and were grandfathered in after residencies were lengthened to a minimum of three years (family medicine, internal medicine, and peds). So the equivalent these days for your mother would be a FM or IM doc. You could also look for someone who is a geriatric med doc (basically a FM or IM doc who also did a geri fellowship). At any rate hope that helps.
