Husband and I are looking to possibly move to the Austin area and was told to check out Bee Cave. Can anybody provide an overview of this area- schools, homes, amenities, vibe?

Not to pick nits, but it appears you are new here and ATX is not around these parts:
Atbasar Airport (ATX) Details - Kazakhstan

UNLESS you subscribe to some urban-ish designation that I suppose tried to convey SOMEthing about in-town Austin...something that certainly would NOT apply to Bee Cave. Just sayin'

Edit:OK, the Backyard would certainly carry some of the 'vibe' out to Bee Cave, but it still wouldn't be a place where Austin would be called the ATX.

I'm guessing you don't have tatdoodles or green streaks in your hair. ATX is common hipster textcode for Austin Texas.

Resistance is futile.

Since no one is actually answering your question, I'll chime in since I live here in Bee Cave, in Falconhead West. The schools are Exemplary. That's not just one or two schools, that's the ENTIRE district! It's hard for an entire district to get the Exemplary rating, but we have it.

What do you want to know about homes? Most are newer and bigger and starting around $250k well into the higher prices depending on whether or not you want a view, a larger yard, 10-15 years old or under 5 years old.

There are lots of families as well as empty nesters.

What specifics are you wanting to know?

As FW says, what specifically do you want to know about? Bee Cave as a suburb is fairly new. Bee Cave 20 years ago was a little stop on the way to the lake. Now there are several subdivisions with fairly new homes. It also has a mall, the Hill Country Galleria, another shopping center with a Lowes, Best Buy and all the assorted strip mall stores. The HEB is nice and there's a Target and Home Depot too. A lot depends on where you'll be working. Bee Cave Rd can get get quite congested going into or from town during rush hour, but not any more so than any other major road in Austin. What other info are you looking for?

Lots moving in to BC soon. Whole Foods is under construction, lots of mid to high end developments planned... probably the best "far suburb" of Austin.

Its definitely not Austin though. Its a really pretty version of anytown-USA high end suburb. Thats good or bad, depending on what you want

It's far out if you aren't working in the end of town I'd be vary wary of the commute time. Traffic in Austin is a nightmare, this is coming form someone who lived in the DC area.

Bee Cave is a great, family-oriented suburb of Austin. If you have children, it's really a great place to be. That can be said for many places though.

Bee Cave proper has the Hill Country Galleria, Shops at the Galleria including Lowe's, Maudie's, Best Buy, Marshall's, etc., Target, Home Depot, The Backyard at Bee Cave and HEB. It's really got easy access to all stores you could possibly need. Also, Lake Travis and Hamilton Pool are both right at your fingertips.

There are several subdivisions surrounding the town center such as Lake Pointe, The Uplands, Spanish Oaks, Falconhead, Falconhead West, and now the new Ladera Ranch. With the exception of Spanish Oaks and The Uplands where prices start at $800K, houses start from $350K on up to much higher prices. It all depends on how big of a house you're looking for.

The schools are top notch. Bee Cave is located within Lake Travis ISD, one of the best ISDs in the Austin area.

Overall, the vibe of Bee Cave is high end/wealthy and lily white with a high quality of living.
