Flesh out your requirements a bit more. Where are you likely to be commuting to for work and what do you consider to be a reasonable commute (this can vary wildly depending on where you're coming from and what you're used to)? Ages of children (can be as basic as elementary, middle, high school aged). How much are you interested in and qualified to spend on housing? What do you like to do besides work? Do you prefer older established neighborhoods or new construction?

Mods: please, please, (pretty) please can we get a sticky asking that people answer these basic questions prior to posting a general "Where should I live" thread? I guess almost all of Austin is kid friendly except maybe Downtown (6th Street)
