We are moving to austin texas, and do not know what area to consider living in, we have 4 children, so we want a nice, family freindly area, any suggestions?

Flesh out your requirements a bit more. Where are you likely to be commuting to for work and what do you consider to be a reasonable commute (this can vary wildly depending on where you're coming from and what you're used to)? Ages of children (can be as basic as elementary, middle, high school aged). How much are you interested in and qualified to spend on housing? What do you like to do besides work? Do you prefer older established neighborhoods or new construction?

Give us a bit more and we can give you a lot more and better advice!

Mods: please, please, (pretty) please can we get a sticky asking that people answer these basic questions prior to posting a general "Where should I live" thread? This comes up an awful lot and it would save everyone two or three steps each time if people have to list their basic requirements first. Thank you!

I guess almost all of Austin is kid friendly except maybe Downtown (6th Street)
