I am getting ready to move to Austin. I am a recent college grad that likes to be near the night life. I have a budget of about 700 a month for an apartment were us a good place to live.

Find a shared living situation (get your own bedroom) on Craiglist. I've been doing doing this for the past 2 years in Austin, at 4 different places and it's been GREAT. I find that most people are sane and okay to live with. Socially, it's SOOOOO much better for a new person. I met a TON of people through my roommates.

For $700, you could find a nice housemate situation in a good neighborhood like Clarksville, or any other area next to downtown, or even IN downtown I've seen some as cheap as $700.

I managed to find a cheap little (and I do mean little) apartment in Clarksville, walking distance to Whole Foods/Waterloo/Book People on Lamar. It's a studio, and its around $800 a month. If you don't need much space, it's great. I can walk everywhere (though there is plenty of parking), and, bonus, it's pet friendly.

Hi! I myself am actually looking for someone to sublease my room in my 4/4 apartment, as well as there is another bedroom available for leasing in my apt as well. The apartment, which is locate in Southeast Austin, about 10 mins max from downtown, is in a primarily Student living area and thur far has really great deals! My rent a month is $480 and that includes all bills paid! Lovely right?

I also have a friend who is looking to sublet her room in her 2/2 apt. Her rent is $575 a month and is the same distance from Downtown. I do not want to write too much however if you are interested in knowing more PLEASE do not hesitate to email me!

I look forward to possibly hearing from you!

A shared living arrangement sounds like a great way for a new person in town to be social and meet a lot of people. It might not be ideal long term, but it's a great way to start out here.
