I always have ragweed and cedar/tree allergies and the weather channel says they are at moderate levels still, but starting yesterday I have a horrible sore throat and all that goes with high levels of these. Anyone know if there is something new in the air? I've already taken allegra, nasonex and homeopathic meds for both tree and ragweed with no help! Ahh!

Check out this (sort of) recent thread:
https://www.city-data.com/forum/austi...ad-lately.html

At the time of the above thread, it was mold that was high, and, clicking on the kvue link in the thread, it appears that mold is high again right now. I am with you on the sneezing. I have been here 13 years and have been VERY lucky not to develop a cedar allergy, but it turns out that when this mold is high, I'm not too happy....

Good luck.

Keep in mind that the location where the air is tested may not reflect what the allergy counts are where you live, it can vary in different parts of town.

For about 2 weeks, I've had the worst allergies I've had in the 40 years I've lived in Austin. Even Zyrtec isn't calming them down all that much.

Have a feeling the dry year we are having is a big part of it. My ears are plugged up now, and lost my voice overnight! I am south, hmm maybe something down here that doesn't show up on the pollen count.

Fortunately, I've had only a few hours of discomfort. On a couple of days, I felt like 'something' was getting to me; but it didn't last. It's easy to get dried out on a bike ride or working in the yard and I think that makes one more sensitive to the allergy gremlins.

It did remind me(whether it works or not) to consume a spoonful of local honey on a daily basis. May or may not help, but it sure tastes good!

And remember, "mold" here is not the same kind as what's thought of inside homes from things like water damage or wet basements.

Yeah I posted that one. I ended up getting a sinus irrigation thing this month similar to a neti pot and that helps. I also take the 12 hour generic sudafed from the pharmacy counter with my generic allegra in the morning lately.

The mold is awful. My zyrtec isn't working too well. Ready for it to move on out!

Accuweather.com lists mold and tree as high, could be a bad combination.
