This is really a pet peeve, but where did this awful look come from? And men, please, at work? You have nice Dockers, an ironed button-down shirt, then your feet are...not cooperating.
Has it become too difficult to wear closed toed shoes or something more professional looking?

Eww. I hate sandals and socks together, whether on men or women. It is especially out of place in most offices.

Only with shorts and never with socks!

Add: since it a female that started this, I'll add one of my pet peeves about women: (never mind!)

I think men should just stop wearing flippies and sandals altogether.

I've seen lots of it on the West coast and see it often here on the East coast. Didn't see it much in N. TX, but suspect I will when we arrive in Austin. I personally don't like the "look," but there are worse things.

I am rarely, if ever, bothered by anyone's dress. Whatever works for them -- suit with cowboy boots, sandals with socks, keens with everything, leslie in his thong.

Only thing that gives me a twinge is Crocs! Really don't like them. But life is too short to be anyone's wardrobe police!

If its a casual workplace then sandals are fine but who wears sandals and socks?

Does Leslie ride a bike in his thong with hot pants and flip flops, nothing else? I saw a guy wearing that a few months ago and thought that that didn't look like very comfortable cycling attire.

And if you want to wear socks with your sandals, that's fine with me! I'm personally anti-shoes, and especially socks. So why anyone would want to wear both, willingly, is beyond me

I used to live in Germany and France, and in both places I saw the knee-high wool socks and sandals phenomena. Of course, I've seen a lot worse when it comes to perceived fashion faux pas.

No Leslie is not a bike rider! He prefers to totter in high heels. You saw one of the "thong guys" in Austin. There are at least two. One who even posts on C-D!

I know many people in Austin, mostly guys, who only own sandals. So when cold weather rolls around they add socks for a few weeks rather than have a separate pair of shoes. But no one would ever accuse them of being fashionable.
