This is similar to a post about SAT, not a duplicate...

My husband and I will be in Austin on Wednesay. I'm from Austin, but he's never been to Texas. We will of course do 6th/4th stree Wednesday night, but what to show him during the day?

As much as I lived there for 10 years, I can't think of what would be the one or two must-see things during the day...

Normally I'd say Zilker Park, but it's sort of hot for that unless you take him to Barton Springs.

Lake Travis? or any of the lakes for that matter.
The Capital?
Take a tour of UT?
If he's a shopper, San Marcos? (Hey, some men are)

Take this drive (map link below) out FM Road 2222 to the Oasis, it shows off some of the prettiest hill country in the area, have lunch at the Oasis on the cliff above the lake. Lunch is a better time to go then dinner, its not so hot and you don't have the sun glaring off of the lake as it sets.

Austin, TX 78701 to Oasis On Lake Travis - Google Maps

Agreed; but I'd add a detour on 360 to cross the bridge. It's 'just' a bridge, but that's a nice drive across and up/down.

Oasis. If you haven't been here in a few years, it will be a totally new experience for you too.

Yes, I considered this scenic route instead, Austin, TX 78701 to Oasis On Lake Travis - Google Maps

But it is more complicated and then they would miss the winding scenic stretch of 2222 between MoPac and Loop 360. It would probably be worth driving there on the first route and back on the second one.

Thanks! Oasis had crossed my mind a few weeks ago when planning our trip, then I totally forgot about it!

Barton Springs is anther totally must-see, I think, as well as a short stop at Mount Bonnell.

Great ideas! Thansk for the input!
