I travel weekly with my job. I currently live in Houston, but my husband and I love Austin.

Can anyone give me pro's / con's on the Austin airport?

Thanks!

Con: a lot of connecting flights to IAH or DFW.

Pro: most awesome airport ever.

Austin's airport is relatively new. It used to be an air force base. It's kind of small, really nice inside. Security is pretty quick to get through. To get almost anywhere you'll have to connect through Dallas or Houston. It's a really nice air port.

Thanks! I did find some direct flights to where I usually travel to. so that is nice. But I don't mind connecting. All part of the job.

I appreciate the info.

Austin's airport is my favorite one in the country. Easy to park at, security is a breeze, no full body scanners, live music and BBQ in the terminal, and not crowded at all.

Security can sometimes be very slow with only a few people in line. Bathrooms are typically clean. Most of the food is local but a BBQ sandwich and a beer will set you back $13. Free garage parking for 30 minutes to pick people up.

I'll agree with what the others have said. Pros = easy parking, easy security, very quick from leaving your car to being at your gate, good selection of airlines and rental car companies, simple to navigate your way around, good food (not the usual McDonalds type fast food). Cons = Since it's a smaller airport, there aren't as many direct flights as the biggies have.

So ABIA is a perfect reflection of the city, itself... easy to use, good quality, unique, and comfortable with it's own size.
