Hi I'm Chris

I'm hosting a party for my runner's club. There may be
from 30-50 attendees. Members are coming from all over
the US (and a few from other countries).

I need to find a hall of some sort that we can use on our opening
night when people come into town. I don't need anything fancy,
just a place to meet. It would need to be a place where people
can bring beer because I'm sure they will.

As far as location goes I'd like to find a place close to downtown
because people will be staying in hotels downtown and won't
know their way around the city.

I'd like to keep this as inexpensive as possible. If I can find the
right place this probably won't be a problem.

Thanks for any advice!

I was going to recommend that and several other facilities the Austin Parks Dept. rents out. But I read their policies which say no alcohol allowed.

Hall Rentals (http://www.saengerrunde.org/Austin_Saengerrunde/Hall_Rentals.html - broken link)

It's got a fun retro vibe.

what about Scholz's beer garden? They have a large room that is great for gatherings... and it is close to downtown!

Yes, my suggestion above for Saengerrunde Hall is AT Scholz': Saengerrunde Hall seats approximately 250, is wheelchair accessible, has a stage, and opens out onto Scholz’s Biergarten. The hall has a wireless microphone system for speaking to large groups.
