Relocating from California in a few weeks. My husband is in the military and we are moving to Round Rock. I have two kids ages 5 and 8. What are some safe nice neighborgoods to live in and elementary schools that are recommended. What are some decent inexpensive hotels we should look into for our arrival? Any information will be appreciated thanks for your time

Are you looking to lease or buy? What's your price range? What do you like to do? Is your husband stationed at Fort Hood? What kind of commute is he looking for?

Gehan is building houses in a new community on the forest creek drive. Please check the below link
Gehan Homes: Communities in Austin Area: Preserve at Dyer Creek: New Homes in Round Rock, Texas

Gattis is the elementary school. Its an exemplary school.
You can also check Sonama, Lake forest and forest creek community depending on your budget.

If you go little further north then you can find decent community called Teravista. They have their own elemantary school with in the community.

Personally, I would get in contact with a realtor. Then when you arrive they can show you around town and explain the +/- of the different area's. They will also be your best bet for finding a rental home quickly and easily. THL (above) is right. Know your price range, commute and whether you want to lease or buy.
RR is pretty diverse as far as area's. There are planned communities (Teravista) or established neighborhoods (like Brushy Creek, downtown or much of west RR). Depends on what kind of "feel" you want. Me? I'd rather lop off an arm than live in Teravista or the such. But lots of people like it.
