I went to a brunch joint near downtown Austin, about 3 years ago. I swore up and down it was Magnolias (Lake Austin BLVD) or Kerby's, but that's not it. Went to those two locations and it ain't them.

I can't remember what the name is, or where exactly it was. It's somewhere near Guadalupe St (I think). It's in a residential area for sure, it's like it was a house. I remember it being hilly, and it was like you were eating in a house, with a big screened in area. It was a grey and white colored house. You had to walk up some stairs. It was REALLY busy for Brunch, cars lined up and down the street. Tons of tress around the joint. It was near downtown kind of, but not in downtown, I know that's a relative statement.

Any help would be great!

Was it Moonshine on Red River by the Convention Center? On Sundays they are strictly brunch. They do have a large outdoor area, facing the front. Here's their website: http://www.moonshinegrill.com/

Hmm, do you remember a signature dish? Or any other restaurant nearby?

The general area you are describing does sound like old West Austin, maybe Clarksville. The stairs/porch thing sounds a little like Z-Tejas on 6th. Residential neighborhood behind it. Could it have been in Hyde Park (which is close to Guadalupe I guess)? Maybe the original Hyde Park Grill?

It wasn't a coffee shop, was it?

Sounds like Eastside Cafe. Grey and white converted house with some gardens outside and great brunch.

Just looked up Z-Tejas, thats not it. I just remember eating the brunch and it was dang good, there was a wait, of course.

As far as a signature dish, I can't remember that either, I feel like such a dummy. It was def past 6th street. It was past whole foods too but not maybe by much and north of there. I remember nearly driving down 8th st and almost running into I think, of course after you cross Guadalupe St. But WELL before you get to MOPAC.

Hmm, I'm at a loss.. several blocks farther north there used to be a restaurant called Mars that was in an old house. It might have had steps on the front, and it had brunch. However, they moved out of that location on to South Congress a couple of years ago, then went out of business. But the location where it was is now Sagra, a nice Italian restaurant:

Cafe Josie? They may not serve brunch anymore, but I think they used to. Aquarelle? It used to be Basil's.
