I'm a barber interested in moving to Austin, I want to open a barber shop but was wondering is there alot of them already? Just wondering if it would be busy or what.

If by barber shop you mean traditional barber shop with a bunch of men sitting around and talking with some sports on the TV (hair cuts going on in the background). Does not exist in Austin proper from what I've been able to find. I've been missing this atmosphere ever since I left the midwest and in my opinion would be a welcome addition to Austin. Floyd's 99 Barbershop is about as close to a "real" barber shop as Austin offers it seems (it's not a style shop). The problem I had when I first got here in Austin last year was trying to locate a barber shop. Found some butcher shops instead. They would ask me "what number?"--what the heck is that about, I wondered. Ahhh, it's the width of the clipper attachment. No scissor cuts?
