Austin

Out of all the major city skylines in Texas, Austin has changed the most dramatically in the past ten years. Since 2000, Austin had 4 different "tallests" in the city, which may change again by 2015 since downtown is seeing a highrise/skyscraper boom. Austin now has the tallest building in Texas outside of Dallas and Houston and the tallest residential building west of the Mississippi River. There's a bit of a limit, though, as the view of the State Capitol Building has a small effect on what building is built and where it's built. The skyline spreads from Lady Bird Lake to the UT campus.

Next Month: Fort Worth

Austin's skyline looks good, but I don't think they will keep the title as the tallest residental building west of the Mississippi very long.

Excuse me, but I'm sure it's downtown HAS SEEN a high-rise/skyscraper boom. Almost anything u/c is topped off or nearly done, isn't it? And there isn't anything for sure going up in the near future.

Anyways, Austin has a nice skyline, hopefully it has more projects going up in the core/center of downtown, and not see nearly as many that are outside of DT/outskirts of it, (IE, the 360 condos, spring, etc.)

No Poll? 3/5, at best 3.5/5

It may not be for sure, but hey, at least Austin is proposing to build more.

I rated Austin's skyline as "good". Prior to the recent highrise building boom downtown I would have only said "average". Austin's skyline has improved dramatically in the last several years!

At least Fort Worth has three 500 ft towers, major cities like Phoenix don't have that.
