yes the Guadalupe can be as good, challenging, and dangerous as any place when it is flowing high which could happen soon with all the rain

next closest is the Rio Grande which might be flowing too high right now and would require several portages to get past some of the most dangerous rapids

after that is colorado or the Buffalo River in Arkansas which is probably also flowing high right now

I have canoed and rafted the Guadalupe upstream of Canyon Lake. This stretch is not as crowded as the river downstream from the lake.

How much white water there is depends on how much rain it had recently. Should be high with all the recent rains. Check out the Guadalupe Canoe Livery where Hwy 281 crosses the Guadalupe River. They will bus you up stream to put in and you can float back down to Hwy 281 to take out or they will also pick you up father downstream if you want a longer paddle.

Guadalupe Canoe Livery The rent canoes, rafts, kayaks and tubes if you don't have your own.

try guadalupe canoe and camping, they are upriver from this place, guadalupecanoe.com super nice people and best rates on the upper river, much lower than GCL Probably is a reasonGCLoes not post their raft, and other river rates

GCC has $10 toob rentals, oh yea
