And aside from leaving NOTHING in your car visibly (including pocket change in the cup holder), yes, as someone mentioned, lock it.

A coworker's neighbor left their truck door unlocked when they went away for the weekend, and left a laptop, iPod, and a GUN in the truck. Bingo. Someone took it all. yippie, and "duh". Obviously if someone wants in your car, locking it won't stop them, but a percentage of car thefts are kids who run around quickly who check just for unlocked cars. If they're locked, they move on to the next one in line quickly.

Where in SE FL are you moving from that car theft wasn't an issue? We moved here from our gated neighborhood in Weston, and NEVER left the car unlocked there, or the garage door open for that matter.

I would never leave my car unlocked either, no matter where I live. Maybe it's the NYC mentality still going. I even lock all of my doors when driving my car.
So how do you like living there after leaving Weston? We are nervous, but excited
