I'm by no means complaining but I'm just curious. Altanta is one of the few places I'm considering moving to. I love Houston but a little bored and graduation is nearing so I would consider purchasing a loft/condo in the ATL and I am pleasantly surprise to find that they are quite reasonable compared to down here.
Timing is everything. I think that the condos in Midtown (Midtown Mile) and Buckhead would be a good long term investment. It is also a great place to live. I have lived here for four years and love it here. The only bad part is that my property values have dropped like a rock. It is a good time to purchasing a unit, you can really get some bargains.
Great! 52 HQ's are moving here in the next few years. Atlanta was rated Top 5 in future growth a few months ago and from March 09'-March 10' Atlanta was ranked #9 in job growth
Thanks, what about the housing market? I want a decent sized loft/midrise/highrise. My range is 100k-200k and I'd prefer it within the city or very active areas with entertainment within walking/short driving distance. What is a good site to research lofts for sale in the Atlanta area?
They were always cheap compared to coastal cities and have taken a hit during the bust as there were many many new developments that had not yet sold when things got tough. It is not just condos but SFH and townhomes that have been hit hard in Atlanta too as the area by most standards was overbuilt.
You will have lots of choices. I'd first narrow it down to the area you want to live in and then go from there. Midtown is an area people really like with tons of restaurants and other amentities and it has lofts, lowrise, midrise and highrise condos at all price points.
How do you guys see the market faring in the next 2 years?
Its not going anywhere in the next 2 years. I don't think it will drop any further, but I don't see any rebound in prices in the next 2 years. Thats going to take 5 - 10.
Sweet, thats plenty of time for me to get things in order, any sites that allow me to FREELY search MLS listings? Most sites I've googled want me to sign up in order to view their listings.
