Hey, so im moving to North Atlanta @ the end of august. Im from MN and im looking for good places to start looking for apartments. Im doing an internship at Northside Hospital....zip 30342. I wanna try and look for something descent around there...and im having no luck so far I thought i found a bunch of places that looked really nice and were a good price, but then i went on a few review websites, and i couldnt find one...that had even close to a good review....so needless to say im getting super frustrated, and would appreciate ANY suggestions on where to look??? Im going to be planning a trip down there soon, but i really wanna narrow some places down to go visit......again......ANY suggestions would help!!!! Thanks!!!
i lived in that area 39 years and this is what i would do.
Look for apartments on ashford dunwoody road by perimeter mall...my sister lived in st. andrews and it was very nice, and away from the bad areas. It is 1/4 north of the mall and the dunwoody subway train which goes south to northside hospital, then to buckhead downtown etc if you wanna explore without a car etc..3 years ago it was 1,000 for a 2 bedroom but worth it cause it was almost brand new and in a very safe area and walking distance to everything. Maybe you could stay there while you become familar with the area.
You could also look at some high rise apts on hammond drive about 2 miles north of the hospital...they look very nice and appear to be very safe.
There are several apts on glendridge drive about a mile west of the hospital...it sounds like you read the reviews for those...the place in the 5400 block of glenridge has a lot of car breakins etc cause it is mostly underground parking and is closest to the low rent apts of sandy springs...another place just down the street seems to be much safer cause of the layout but i have not read those reviews.
You could also look in zip code 30319 for apts on ashford dunwoody road near the intersection of johnsons ferry road...there is a bunch of older places there...much cheaper, fairly safe, and you could take johnsons ferry road 3 miles to work. If you are on a tight budget, then stay in this area, if money is no object, then check out the st. andrews apts which is about 3 miles north.
What is your price range...i can look up a few places i am familar with as i grew up in this area.
look at glenridge walk...it is almost next door to northside hospital, newer luxury apts, they have a small 1 br. for 680 and offer an employer discount for hospital workers and offer 4 month leases if needed. The reviews look good except for a few people complaining about the office staff.
That highrise on hammond drive is called Park Towers II
The other place is called Ashford, the reviews say there is a big bug problem, i wouldn't doubt it the place is 40 years old.
zip code 30338 is the perimiter mall area.
WOW....this sure helps a ton!! Is that St. Andrews in alpharetta??? Just wanted to make sure im looking at the right one. It looks beutiful if it is!! So as an answer to your question, im looking for something not really much more then $800....to me it really dosnt matter wether it s 2bedroom or one bedroom. My fiance and I are moving there, and we are only taking one car, so im hoping to find something not to far from the hospital or somewhere at least with modes of other transportation. I REALLY REALLY appreciate your help...this search was just getting all so overwhelming!!!
there are 2 st. andrews, both are identical. The st andrews i referred to is on ashford dunwoody road about 2 miles from northside hospital. For 800 a month, you probably can get a studio apt, 1 br. run 850-900.
Personally, i would look at that glenridge walk place, it is walking distance 1/4 mile to northside hosp and 1/2 mile from the subway station. It appears a little cheaper than st. andrews.
good luck
