My husband and I are looking for a house and saw one we like in the area near Bolton/NW intersection & Hightower Rd/NW intersection. Does anybody know how this area is? We noticed some areas are nice and some aren't in this general area, but input from someone with more knowledge/education would be appreciated!!

I think you mean the Bolton Rd/ James Jackson Pkwy intersection. Hightower is called HE Holmes now and it doesn't actually start until you reach DL Hollowell (Bankhead). Overall I like the area for the upside, they are already starting to slowly build up that Bolton/Jackson Pkwy intersection, there is a small new plaza they just built behind the Chevron, and there is a fairly good sized new building on the other side of Jackson Pkwy. The Hollywood Rd area which is 2 blocks over from Bolton is literally a ghost town compared to even 3 years ago, and they have even started to build new houses on Hollywood Rd as well. The city has effectively killed the hell hole that was the Perry/Hollywood area which includes Bolton Rd. by simply just tearing down the complexes one by one that were in and around that area.

Im sorry in edit to my post Im guessing you might have meant Northwest Ave up by the park at the intersection of Jackson and NW, if that is in fact what you mean that I will have to amend my post and say that area is still kind of suspect. Basically the closer you get to Bankhead on Jackson Pkwy the worse it gets. Areas like Browntown Ave, Lincoln Homes, NW Ave., and Johnson Rd over there still have some drug spots and you will still see a bunch of crackheads walking around. In fact they found a women dead in a car at that park on Northwest Ave and Jackson not long ago.
