Question: Would you live in Candler Park area?

Husband will work in Emory/CDC area. Two teens going to private school in Buckhead. So, we want to live within the perimeter, if possible.

Is the area safe?

For resale purposes, are the public schools ok? (Grady High School, Inman Middle, Mary Lin Elementary)?

Are property taxes high in that area of town?

Any other areas we should be looking at?

Thanks! Global Nomad

Have you checked out Druid Hills, Virginia Highland or Morningside? These are worth a look.

I have lived in Candler Park, and would move there again if I were planning on moving (assuming I could afford a home there).

Candler Park is an excellent neighborhood! The homes are beautiful, property values are steadily increasing, Little 5 Points sits adjacent to the neighborhood, and it's one of the more walkable neighborhoods in Atlanta and is served by a MARTA station. Your husband should be able to commute pretty easily to Emory from Candler Park via Oakdale Road or Clifton Road, which is one of the more beautiful drives in the city when it meanders through Druid Hills.

Mary Lin is an excellent elementary school and the parents are really involved. Inman Middle School is also excellent and Grady High School is the best public high school in the city of Atlanta.

If you can buy in Candler Park, then do it. You won't regret it!
