The lakes are warm enough for swimming, and the creeks are like bath water now. Why does the Chattahoochee remain frigid year-round when so many of it's sources don't? In most areas around here it is shallow, so even though it is moving water, it seems that a some point it would warm up. It hurts to even wade in that water.

It's because the water that they release from the Buford Dam comes from the bottom of Lake Lanier, which stays frigid.

like everything else, depends on location. The areas near the hwy 9 bridge from Roswell to Sandy Springs can be quite moderate. I was in them Saturday and shocked at just how warm that area is.
