I am going to work for CDC in Atlanta, GA. I looked at the greatschools website and ended up with two options such as Walton and Northview high school.

I want to move to a city no more than 30 min driving distance to the office.
I also want to move within Walton or Northview high school district.
Is it possible? I've heard about traffic jam in Atlanta.

I am thinking about renting a nice apartment with 2 BR and 1 BA. Hopefully a new building. Would you like to tell me the rent range and candidates?

Any help, would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

If you're talking about the Walton HS in Marietta and the Northview HS in John's Creek, you haven't got a prayer of making it to the CDC in 30 minutes unless you either:

a) Own a helicopter
or
b) Commute at 2am

Yes, if you will be working at the CDC, it is best for you live in the central, eastern, or northeastern parts of Metro Atlanta.

If a good high school is your concern, there a plenty of options in the central, eastern, or northeastern parts of Metro Atlanta.

Why are you so focused on Walton or Northview?

Then, what is your expectation? 1 hour at 8:30 am?

Give or take- maybe a little less if the stars all align, could be 1.5 if it's raining, there's an accident, etc.

I live in Northview School District. I know two people who commute from my neighborhood to Emory. They say it takes 45 minutes in rush hour. Apparently, they take 141 south to 285 East, and then cut west off of 285. It takes far less time than going south on 85 and then east. I think these people I know leave for work around 7 am though. I would expect it would take longer in rain.

Wow. Thank you so much.
Great and accurate information.

Specifically one of my candidate apartments is River Heights in Walton high.
Is there anyone who knows about commute time from River Heights (Walton high school district) to Emory or CDC?

They must be leaving right at or before 7am. Anything after than on 141 could be 30 minutes, and that's before even getting to 285 and assuming no accidents or bad weather.

If you leave before 7am, preferably 6:45am, it's doable. If you leave around 9 or 10am, it's doable. There is NO WAY I'd do it between 7-9am.

OP, what time will you be commuting back up? The commute back may be worse.

Do you have a child that will be attending high school? If not, you should consider living intown.

I think you're right. They're both doctors at Emory, and have to be there are the earlier side.
