My husband and I are in our early thirties and looking for a thriving area to settle down in when we relocate. We're getting ready to have kids, so we'd like to be in a nice, family friendly neighborhood with a pool and tennis courts. Must be near a mall, shopping areas and golf courses. We want to rent a townhome or single family home for a year (800-1300/month rent) before we figure out where we really want to buy...and until we sell our house. I've been looking at Dunwoody, Roswell, Alpharetta areas. Any advice on subdivisions that might be best for us? Any help is much appreciated!!! Oh...and we'd be commuting to downtown Atlanta near CNN Center.

Of the three you mentioned, I would recommend Dunwoody because it has easy access to Marta. If you are working at the CNN Center, you could take the train downtown and not have to worry about traffic. If you live in Roswell or Alpharetta, you would have to deal with GA 400 traffic as part of your commute.

They're all such nice areas and all have so many family friendly neighborhoods, pools, rec centers, good schools, etc...you'll have a lot to choose from. If you're working near CNN Center and want to try public transportation, I'd recommend renting in the Perimeter Mall area first and taking MARTA downtown (except for on Fridays if that stupid new law passes) to see how you do. I love Dunwoody! Just moved here myself with my two kids and it's so central. GREAT shopping, convenient to all...can't say enough.
