WE live in Kennesaw and don't get me wrong its beautiful, but because we have come from quite a large city, my children are a bit bored. We probably are asking the impossible but if anybody can answer it I know it can be answered on here. My youngest is still in school, so it has to have great high schools. We would like a friendly area where people know each other. Someplace with sidewalks to go for walks. It needs to be safe but a bit ghetto also (if you can understand that). We are a Puerto Rican family so diversity would be great.

Moving this to the Atlanta room since you're talking about suburbs of Atlanta and will get more replies this way.

Umm, I'll interpret that to mean that you're looking for a bit more 'urban flavor'.
What comes to my mind is the neighborhoods that are served by the Inman Middle/Grady High School cluster (city of Atlanta schools): Virginia-Highland, Inman Park, Candler Park and Midtown.
Also consider the Oakhurst neighborhood in the city of Decatur; it is served by Renfroe Middle/Decatur High School (city of Decatur schools), also very good schools.

If you want to stay in Cobb County and want a more "urban" feel I recommend you look at Smyrna. It is an "up and coming area". It's closer to town and may give you more things to do by simply being closer to Atlanta. However, the schools are not the best in the county so you have a trade off. That's not to say they're bad but may not be as good as where you are.

Also, the closer you move to Atlanta, typically the more you are going to pay although in the current market you should be able to find a good deal almost anywhere.

Agree, what northatlbroker and Lovin said are true and good. With the Smyrna recommendation, it would be Campbell High School...good!

I also recommend (considering your criteria-walkable, neighborly, good schools, etc.)...

1. Historic Marietta (Marietta High School...good!)

2. Chamblee, north of the tracks (Chamblee High School...good!)

3. Tucker (Tucker High School...good!)

4. Old Town/Historic Norcross (Norcross High School...good!)

5. Historic Roswell (Roswell High School...good!)

6. Historic Downtown East Point (Tri-Cities High School...decent!)

7. Historic Downtown College Park (Tri-Cities High School...decent!)

I hope this helps. Good Luck!
