I think Buckhead's skyline is actually bigger than any other southeastern city except of course for downtown/midtown Atlanta and New Orleans, oh and Miami, of course. Charlotte is close, but imho, Buckhead has more buildings and more stuff than Uptown Charlotte. Imagine if all the skylines of Atlanta were compacted into one business district. Then it would rival Houston's and fall only behind Chicago and New York. Houston is kind of the same way with mutliple skylines, and its are actually even bigger than Atlanta, Los Angeles, too I think.

It is interesting the way there are three different skyline areas - downtown, Midtown and Buckhead, spread out like a string. It's pretty unique in America. (I know other cities have more than one batch of tall buildings, but how many others have that string effect?)

First of all, Atlanta is one d@mn beautiful city.
Second, I've read that Atlanta has the potential to be a preeminent "linear" city...with Buckhead, Midtown, and Downtown forming one significant, "linear" urban core. The upgrade of Peachtree Street/Road and hopefully the implementation of the Peachtree Trolley will solidify this.

Moreover, I wish Atlanta could annex Vinings/Cumberland, Perimeter (too late), and Emory/Druid Hills (and other areas)...and then Atlanta would have a main, premier, linear urban core along Peachtree Street/Road, but also be a "patchwork" city--a la European/Non-North American cities--with other significant urban centers within the city proper...all connected by mass transit (think London, Sao Paulo, Paris, Madrid, etc.).

Buckhead's skyline can in my opinion rival any southern U.S. city.

Honestly I think there should be more skyscrapers... more bright lights...etc. I know no city can compare to New Yorks skyline other than Tokyo.... but man once I visited there it was just like nothing id ever seen before. And this is coming from someone that's been to pretty much every major American city other than Seattle.

The skyline(not density) could compete with just about all cities outside of the top 20 big cities.

You REALLY need to do yourself a favor and make it to Seattle. You may find it pretty hard to get on that plane to come home!
