Okay, I am over 50 so unless I live to be 100+ I am no longer middle aged. However, I look very young for my age and act even younger and am not willing to throw the towel in on men. So, my question is, what is the dating/mating scene like for an attractive, educated middle aged woman in Atlanta? Are there certain areas (which there must be) that are better than others and if so where? I am relocating there in the near future and would appreciate any advice, truths, etc. I can get. Thanks!

Here's what I'd say about this:
Atlanta is a huge city with tons of people (single, married, divorced, widowed, etc...), activities, groups, organizations, venues, volunteer opps, classes, etc.
If you are the type to jump in and explore all for the sake of enriching your life and just meeting some new people, chances are you'll find a few interesting people to date.
If you're more of the passive type waiting for people to 'set you up' (not that there's anything wrong with this) you may find it more difficult as the city is so spread out so stuff is not right in front of you (like in New York, Boston or Chicago). So, people tend to be in their cars more, stay at home more because it takes long to go from place to place.
BUT...I reiterate the point that if you're an interesting person and put yourself in situations where you'll meet other like minded individuals (High Museum, Alliance Theater, Improv Classes, Wine Tastings, Film Groups, Pottery, Weekend Projects) you'll probably be in luck.
As far as areas, there are single men everywhere. But atlanta is an easy city to get lazy in so know this going in and you'll be fine. Just go and do stuff!!! It's there...you just have to seek it out. That's the best way to meet people.

Thanks so much for your excellent advice. I think we all tend to forget sometimes that we have to put ourselves out there in order to be seen. (No one comes and knocks on our door to meet us, do they?) I guess my question to you now would be, how accessable are people in Atlanta? I live in SE Florida and people here are just plain not friendly! (I'm originally from St. Louis where people are VERY friendly.) After living here for 4 very long years, I really want to be in a city that not only has culture but is inhabited by people who at least APPEAR to have a heart and to be willing to lend a helping hand. I have wonderful friends in other parts of the country where I have lived but not here in south Florida. I don't want to make the mistake of moving to a city where people are so self absorbed as I want to make this my LAST move. In my mind, people make the place. So what are your thoughts about the people in Atlanta?

The people who you will probably find the friendliest are also the ones who go out and do stuff. The ones who 'have a heart and lend a helping hand' will, well, be 'having a heart and lending a helping hand.'
Get involved with some orgs like volunteermatch.org to get started. Take a class on the weekends at Evenings at Emory or Kennesaw State Univ (depending on where you live) and you'll find some nice ones. Welcome!

Lots of bars, clubs and social events catering to your age group in Buckhead and surrounding areas. Virginnia Highlands and Emory area also very good.

Generally the dating scene is much easier/more single people the further in to town you get.
