Atlanta is not really a barbecue city. We have a lot of different styles from elsewhere but none of them are really really good. My favorite is Country's BBQ based in Columbus and none of the Atlanta places have ever really met that standard for me.

I'll add that Socks Love in Cumming has some of my favorite BBQ in Metro Atlanta, though I haven't been in a while.

I remember when we moved here from Texas 8 years ago. Our first bbq experience was Slopes.
We were like wth???? This is bbq ??

We ate at Choate BBQ in the Ball Ground area after a great hike on Burnt Mountain last week. It was pretty good.
Yes, your correct about Atlanta not being a bbq city.

I've read good reviews.
It's Rodney Scott, yes, it is out of South Carolina. Don't get a full slab unless you have about four people to help eat.

JJ Rib Shack has the absolute best rib tips in Atlanta. All orders cook to order, must get there right at noon to avoid waiting forever, but it is worth it.

Please steer me to the best bbq you've had in the Atlanta area.
I've done Fox, Williams Bros, Heirloom,
And Daddy D's.
If you are in the Austell area, this is my favorite.

Atlanta is definitely not known for BBQ and the people recommending Dreamland and Old Hickory House definitely do not know good bbq. Those places are disgusting, and that is a fact. I highly recommend only a couple of good BBQ restaurants in the area:

1. Heirloom Market BBQ (https://s.yelp.com/bJZGIhaMYx) - This is Korean and Southern mixed together and it is good. This is not your typical bbq, but is a great option. Check it out.

2. Sweet Auburn BBQ (https://s.yelp.com/PzRXnKIEga) - This is Asian fusion bbq too but very delicious.

Recommendations from others, but I am not a huge fan of:
1. Community Q (https://s.yelp.com/iDjpuZQd2m)
2. Fox Bros (https://s.yelp.com/LfT2l4bDQh)

My Brother swears that Righteous Que BBQ in Marietta is the best.

I've also heard that Character's Famous BBQ in Adairsville is worth the drive.
