I am going to be moving to the Duluth area in a few weeks. After looking online at some different sites I am no closer to deciding where to live. I am looking for a good and pretty safe apartment complex in Duluth or near the area. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Sugarloaf area is not bad close to 85.
Good way would be to take I-85 to exit 109 Sugarloaf Pkwy.
Go to the first light and turn left on Satellite. Head south. Pass a few nice, gated, complexes. Satellite will bring you right into the Duluth area.

In Central Duluth JXU66 can give some good advice.

I would recommend Reserve at sugarloaf. A coworker of mine is living there.
Also, Gables at Sugarloaf is pretty good. If you want cheaper option, pick Paces commons or Estate at Crossroad near Korea town.

Be prepare to pay around 800 for one bedroom, 1000 for 2 bedrooms.

Stay away apartments around Satelliate Road/Old Norcross Road. Those apartments are probably 200 to 250 less, but probably not worth due to relatively high crime rate (I read that one hispanic lady got robbed by gun point a month ago in that area).

Duluth in general is safe. There may be some sketchy parts, but not many. Stay away from the east side of Pleasant Hill Rd. Everything at or above the Pleasant Hill Rd exit is pretty much safe. I have used a company called Promove here in Atlanta and surrounding areas, it's a free service for consumers. They know about all the apartments in the city, the management, how they look on the inside, if the area is safe, cost, how the grounds are kept up. It's a great resource, and it saves you a lot, a lot, of foot work!! They have offices throughout the city. You can make an appointment, or just walk in. They have pictures of the properties, can call ahead for you, and negotiate special deals you might not know about otherwise. Just tell them what area you are interested in living in, your budget, size apartment you want. They will pull several properties, and you just chose what you like. I can't tell you what a time saver this was for me. Look them up on the net. The service is free for you, they get their money off the back end from the apartment property after you agree to sign and lease and want to move in. I do hope you plan to come down here and look around in person before you decide, that would be unfortunate if you didn't.

I am in the area and looking at apartments. Today I visited a few and can definatley tell the difference between certain ones. I was curious is anyone knew anything about The Gables Sugarloaf, I really liked it but am not sure about it being on Satellite road because it seems like a pretty busy road. Anyone have any input on that one? Any more thoughts would be great!!

It is great choice. The reason is somewhat busy because it closes to a lot of office buildings, Gwinnett Forum and Discovery Mills. IMO, it considered relative light in Duluth area. Wait until you visit Pleasant Hill area if you want busy street.

I agree here! Personally, I would stay away from a 2 mile radius of the Gwinnett Mall area. My office is in this area and we are looking to move away when the lease expires in 2 years. We have went from a standard office with locked doors to key pads, cameras, etc.
