North Avenue residents are latest Atlantans to lobby city for complete streets | Curbed

Quote:
The chorus around Atlanta calling for “complete streets” just grew a bit louder.

Almost all residents of a Poncey-Highland loft building on North Avenue signed a petition submitted Monday to Renew Atlanta officials, city councilmembers, and other leaders that calls for the thoroughfare to be fully revamped in ways that would boost safety for people not traveling in vehicles.

Petitioners live up the hill from Ponce City Market at the 20-unit City View Lofts, a condo building finished in 2000. Vehicle crashes and other pedestrian safety issues are becoming more frequent as development in the area booms, residents say...
Maybe they can undo some of this and give the land back to the property owners:

North Ave ROW(west of BeltLine) needs to be preserved for future MoreMARTA-funded BRT in dedicated lanes.

They should really change North Avenue from that 6-lane undivided road in your image to something more like this in the meantime:

Four travel lanes instead of six. A center median/turn lane. Wide sidewalks. Signalized crossing lanes with flashing lights. Concrete refuges. Would only need to slap some bike lanes in there.

Unfortunately all they did was make the vehicle lanes wider and add median/center turn lane.

Yep- this part of north ave people like to let it rip. Especially with the lights being synced certain parts of day- easy for people to zoom down.
