The stadium will get a new name (most likely in time for the 2020 season).

Yeah, it is quite unfortunate news that Atlanta is basically losing the corporate headquarters of its last remaining homegrown big bank... And to rival Charlotte, no less.

But I guess that there is at least a consolation that Atlanta will remain the headquarters of the new consolidated bank's wholesale banking division.

Yep. SunTrust Park will most likely be renamed by the end of the year and definitely by the beginning of the 2020 baseball season, when the combined BB&T/SunTrust Bank takes on a new name after the merger before the end of the year.

My guess is that the new combined bank potentially could include the words "Sun" and "Branch" in its new name after SunTrust and Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T) as is often (but not always) the case to include parts of the names of the two merging banks after a major bank merger.

It will suck for merchants at Peachtree Center.

And to the person who said Atlanta isn’t really a fintech hub? Um Fiserv and First Data have and will continue to have a huge presence here and combined they will be the largest. There’s also FIS, InComm, and many others.
