Depends on the area. 4 or 5 in certain northeast sections. 0 or 1 in the southwest. Average 3 maybe

Depends on place and time for me. In my home I feel reasonably safe.

Metro Atlanta is such a large area. Like above posters have said, it really depends on where you are and at one time. I feel relatively safe in downtown and midtown during the day. I'm more alert in downtown(five points area) than I am in midtown at night.

If I am out at a ATM at 3:00am or walking down the street drunk I am concerned about an opportunist everywhere. I am curious how the OP feels in Austell

I've lived in Clayton County since 1995 (Age 5) and as bad a rap the county gets, I've never legitimately felt "unsafe". Now, I can say due to me living here for so long, I have a good idea of what areas to avoid that would increase the likely-hood of me encountering dangerous situations.

I lived downtown for a period of time while attending school at GA State and yeah walking around at night you have to be alert of your surroundings.

Honestly, just from viewing the news and hearing stories, crime is just really random. It can happen in what we think the "typical" area it would likely happen and then happen in a "non-typical" area.
I guess I'll give it a 4, just for the simple fact that I've had friends robbed before.

In my immediate area of Woodstock, a solid 5. Same can be said for other parts of metro North that I frequent (Kennesaw, Alpharetta). Downtown-ish areas? I've never had any negative experiences, but then again, have only been down there maybe twice after dark. It just doesn't seem very safe from what we see on the news. I'd walk through the worst neighborhood in Boston at night and would feel relatively safe. I can't say the same for ATL unfortunately.
