Hi everyone,

I already posted a few weeks ago in the Sticky thread, "Moving to Atlanta, Post here." But, no one replied. That was when I was considering purchasing a home.

Anyhow, I will be leaving the New England area and moving to Atlanta this fall.

I currently own a home and will sell it prior to my move. I no longer want to purchase a home, at least not until I know the areas very well and can take my time to travel and decide what I want. I'll be working around the downtown area. I'm a single woman in my mid 30s, and am looking to rent a 2 bedroom apartment that has an elevator, is safe to live in, is relatively new, and is within walking distance of a lot of restaurants.

I'm willing to consider areas not directly in the Downtown region, but those very close to it. Regardless,I'd like to live where restaurants or some stores are within walking distance.

My maximum monthly rent, ideally, is about $2000/month.

I've looked extensively on trulia and zillow but the interfaces and revamping of the sites make them user unfriendly IMHO. And when I type in certain specifications, it gives me zero results.

Would you happen to live or know anyone who lives in/around the downtown region in a great apartment building complex? If so, would you please give me their names (re: complexes)?

Or provide any other recommendations for me concerning my search?

Thanks so much!

How's this? Midtown is much more bustling than Downtown, and you can take MARTA down to work.

If Downtown is a must they have this too

Midtown is where you want to be.

Downtown is more of a tourism area. Lot of hotels and such.

Midtown is close enough to downtown that you could get there easily. You could definitely bike, take transit, or possibly even walk if you want to be car free. Midtown is the bustling "city centre" for Atlanta, where most of the restaraunts, new skyscrapers, coffee shops, art galleries, and pedestrians are. There is even a grocery store (Publix) and another in the works, all walkable. Downtown is a bit quiet, and trades out the pedestrians for more homeless. Downtown is a little more "rough" looking than midtown.

131 Ponce might be one to check out. It's near the southern border of Midtown so the commute to downtown will be much faster. It's also newer.

There are many new rentals in the work for Downtown. Castleberry Hill, Sweet Auburn all currently have spaces.

Midtown is a safe bet for a first stop moving to the city.

There are a lot of neat mid-rise / older SFH neighborhoods near by too. But you may want to spend some time finding the right one since they can vary greatly. Downtown can be a relatively affordable option too since it has not a (yet) seen the roaring resurgence many other intown neighborhoods has.

Yeah that's a nice one but going fast. They told me when I took a look last month that if I didn't grab one by May more likely than not they will have no to minimal vacancies until next year. They recently opened so mostly new renters and people generally stay awhile in places like that
