YelloeBelle deleted my posts that pointed to "Biblical" Scriptures, which is the topic of this thread. This is about Biblical standards, not secular ones.

Several of mine were deleted as well, and contained no scripture. So, it's not the presence of scripture which gets a post deleted.

This country exists because of progressive or "liberal" concepts.

The concept of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, the right of the public to individually as private citizens own and bear arms, the separation of church and state, no state-sponsored religion and constitutional representative democracy in general were all exceedingly progressive or "liberal" concepts when the nation was founded over 300 years ago in an era where monarchy and autocracy were the dominant form of government.

This nation's founding fathers were all each individually and collectively a pretty progressive and forward-looking bunch who knew that the society would change as time moved forward and the people in the society changed.....Which is why they created a tri-cameral process (3 co-equal branches of government) that allowed for governing to change and evolve as the people picking the government and society being governed changed and evolved.

Having a written document (the United States Constitution) guide the governing process during our continuing democratic experiment was and continues to be a pretty progressive (or "liberal") forward-thinking concept in the greater scheme of things, especially in a world historically dominated by decidedly non-democratic governing processes.

Our nation simply would not exist were it not for the progressive (or "liberal") thinking of this nation's founding fathers.

Absolutely spot on. The conservatives at the time of the Revolution were Tories loyal to the British.

scgraham, You couldn't be more incorrect. Had we left it to the conservatives, there would be no United States.

"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." Romans 13:1-2 (NIV)
