Our family is relocating to Suwanee this summer and we are veterans at the art of starting over. Since every location offers different options regarding faith we look for one that accepts difference, period. The kids won't be fooled by any church anywhere whose members have never left their tiny village and experienced life outside of their bubble.

We have Goldilocks syndrome though.

We don't want a church that is so small they harass us for money and panic if we miss a day at church.
We don't want a church that is so large it does not even look like a church, more like a rock concert venue.

We want a church that we can attend when we have the chance. We want a church small enough for people to recognize us and wave. We want a church that has you feeling good when leaving, not like you or someone you know is about to burn in hell.

Any suggestions?

There are literately Thousands of Church's in the Gwinnett County Area.

From Small Strip Mall Churches, to the Mega Churches. Honestly you will need to try a few in the middle group to find a church, and programs with your liking.

There are some churches that do cater toward Veterans.

One that is sort of different, Many churches are owned/run by the pastor, not by a Board of X (Directors, Trustees, Visitors etc.).

Yep, lots and lots of churches. I am just trying to filter through a few before dragging the whole family in.

Cross Pointe Church in Duluth is a great option.

ONE WORD OF WARNING: There are tons of megachurches in north Metro Atlanta, many with multiple satellite locations. Those are the ones I'd be wary of. While I'm not opposed to large churches with much to offer, like you I first value a church that feels like family and is home -- which of course there are endless options.

What is your denominational preference?

How about a Buddhist temple? They never mention money, you can come and go as you please, it's a relatively small community so everyone will greet you, and it's all about peace and serenity.
Win win win win.

In my experience Churches in small towns are slightly more on the friendly side, but i never felt like they keep an eye on you or anything.
