Since 99X is now off the air, what other atlanta stations play hard rock/alternative rock? I haven't been able to find any other stations.

1/25: 99X ends with Green Day | Radio & TV Talk | AccessAtlanta (http://www.accessatlanta.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/accessatlanta/radiotalk/entries/2008/01/25/125_99x_ends_wi.html - broken link)

96.1 has a pretty good selection- mostly newer stuff, but with some older material thrown in here and there. 95% of the time I listen to Hair Nation on Sirius Satellite, but when I don't, it's 96.1.

Yeh, 96.1 is about all there is now. There's one more...used to be a Hispanic station but I can't remember the frequency.

Kind of forlorn, isn't it? That's my generation and it's officially no longer the current generation. *SNIFF*

Wow, I listen to my MP3's, CD's, Nav too much....I didn't know 99X was off air.

I had been a "freeloader" for 15 years now.

I don't listen to radio because I rarely drive...mostly walk. Rather listen to the sounds around me.

Well, I live 3.5 miles from work and there are sidewalks. I have to cross Ponce but that's what the walking signal is for!

It takes an hour to do this walk but I decided in August that I wanted to really be less car dependent and get more exercise.

It's funny...I lived in the burbs for >3 years and there was no walkable destinations so I got very used to depending on my car. When we moved intown it took nearly a year to shake off that mentality. I would realize how absurd I was being driving the single mile between my house and Candler Park Market and would tell myself that NEXT time I would walk. And then I would forget. But, finally, I broke through and now I try to walk everywhere.

Still haven't lost any weight, though my heart and lungs are in GREAT shape!

99x Gone!!! The end of an era in Atlanta...

I remember the evening I first heard Kurt Cobain was found dead I was listening to 99x (one of my generation's JFK moments). I must admit that I stopped listening to 99x when Fred Toucher left about 3 years ago.

Btw Q100 is moving to 99x. Read it on AJC.

Now if I could find a radio station that plays The Smiths, Herbie Hancock, Pixies, and Talib Kweli that would be nice. I bet that would be a challenge even on XM radio.
