When you're an oligarch running a de facto utility... you don't need forms to gauge public interest.

Sure you need to gauge specific consumer interest based on the areas you plan on rolling the service out to first.
Why do you think Google Fiber had a page for interested consumers to visit?

Still not worth it because of (1) the low data caps (300GB/month) and (2) the likely multi-hundred-dollar cost/month.

Get back to me when Comcast eliminates their caps at least.

You should probably read my post a little bit more carefully because your response makes absolutely no sense. Google isn't a player in the internet service industry oligarchy.

lol,

Google is as much of a player in the internet service industry as any company could be. How do you think they are going to take advantage of utility right of ways?

Did they say that will be the cap on the 2 Gbps service? I seriously doubt it. But then again...

I'm 100% certain this will cost an arm and a leg though.

They will likely cap the data. I doubt it will be capped at 300 gigs (their 'Extreme 105' service is already capped at 500 gigs) but there will be a cap.

This is why I am so excited for Google Fiber. Fast internet with no cap. The whole point of having a fat internet pipe is to build out infrastructure that will enable online applications we can't do today. Things like 4k streaming and cloud based storage of large files such as video games (which can be as large as 70 gigs per game), all of which require a large amount of data. Speaking of video games, as we speak, Sony has been rolling out a new service called "Playstation Now" similar to Netflix that will stream video games over the internet to consoles and even Bravia TV's. It requires a fast connection with very low latency and (you guessed it!) a large amount of data.

My mistake; there won't be. Of course, I don't think that they'll remove the caps on all the OTHER residential offerings.

Wait, so will there or won't there be a cap? I didn't see any info either way. Knowing Comcast's stance on caps, it seems like they would implement one.
