In terms of technology workers, the Triangle has a slight edge, but not by a major margin. Atlanta's combination of much larger population, Atlanta already a major center of business, major airport, educated workforce, and connections to Savannah's port are probably the most potent decision deciders.

I thought that too but it isn't just incentives that's making companies flee these states. Their notoriously high costs and high regulatory and tax burdens make doing business in them very difficult. The cost of living in the south is lower overall as well. You don't need as much money to have a better life than up there. The incentives shouldn't be necessary if the US would reduce it's tax burden for ALL. Our corporate taxation is the highest in the industrialized world and lower state taxes offset some of that. Despite that, a lot of companies are moving out of the country altogether. What we do from here on out will decide the economic future of this nation.

So would be a One Connection to get to Germany. You need the connecting traffic to warrant the International flights, CLT does not generate enough O&D traffic to warrant non-stop to most EU cities,

Maybe they the could muster enough O&D traffic for a 787 to London or Paris to connect to EU from there.
Charlotte is one of their most profitable hubs, no way it's get dehubbed and give the Southeast market to Delta.

In the Atlanta vs. Charlotte debate, no one has mentioned that Atlanta, in addition to being superior in most every aspect, is also much closer to their manufacturing facility in Vance, AL (between Tuscaloosa and B'ham). Especially good news since Atlanta didn't win in the recent anouncement of Toyota's move to Dallas from Torrance, CA (more specifically Plano... in fact almost across the street from my place of work). 4-5000 new jobs for this area. Atlanta was apparently on the short list.
