I don't like this idea. I'm not trying to justify Task Force for the Homeless not paying what they were supposed to pay, but 650 people just put out is not good. Maybe they can work out a payment plan.

It's not putting them out. For the most part, Pine St is simply a warehouse and the least restrictive shelter making it the most attractive for those who don't wish to change their situation. Some of its residents have been there for years w/o any effort to get jobs or help w/ their issues beyond collecting some form of disability.

This is eviction effort is probably a decade in the making. The shelter is grossly mismanaged and lost almost all of its grants/donations/support b/c it seeks to only pile people in while seeking ways to extract revenue from various gov't sources. There are many other shelters in the city but this one represents everything wrong about how to deal w/ the homeless. Believe it or not, the homeless will find other shelters and other places to get help w/o piling out and destroying the blocks surrounding it.

Hmm, well I guess put someone else in charge if they have been screwing up this badly for that long.

I don't know really know where the homeless shelters are. I saw one off Spring Street I think and one near the court house off Garland. I read a thread about a tent city that was closed down but an unclear exactly where that was.

I err on the side of compassion when it comes to these things. If for some reason I became homeless, I really have no idea where I would go if I needed a shelter. I'd have even less of an idea if I had to travel with a child or children.

It can start with you! Maybe you will let about 3 of them live with you so you can help them turn their life around. I
