The reason I wanna move to GA from north CA:
Better public schools in GA than San Francisco(I hope I am right as my research, ex; Less students per teacher in north Atlanta);
The four seasons in Atlanta, and warmer summer in north Atlanta than SF. Cheaper in everything in GA than CA.
The end, I could know some new people, and my kid can learn English, so she doesn't need to speak Chinese all the time at school, but I am happy that she is kind of "bilingual" now, Mandarin, Cantonese, and just a little bit English

What do you think? Thank you!!

A good public school will be a bit tricky. Georgia is infamous for under-performing schools.

so the public schools are not as good as the private schools? actually, when I heard many people saying the pubic schools in Suwanee and johns creek are very good, I want to know how good they are? why many people say public schools there are better than private schools in city Atlanta?

Like any other city/county/state, you will find a school systems with both high-performing and low-performing individual schools. Fulton County schools are pretty consistent, as are Gwinnett and Cobb. If you're looking in North Atlanta you will find very good schools almost everywhere.

Public schools are usually not on the level of private schools for many reasons...but the teachers in public schools are usually more qualified and better compensated. If you are looking for certain things like lower student/teacher ratios, stricter discipline, or a wider variety of academic offerings then private school is sometimes a better option.

There will not be 100% consensus on the internet. But yes, public schools in the northern suburbs, i.e. Johns Creek, Alpharetta, East Cobb, Roswell, are excellent. What is your budget for private? If you want to live in Buckhead and do private you need to spend $25k/yr. for private. If you want good public schools they are here as well.

Thank you, Deacongirl. As a parent in both systems, Westminster and Lambert, I am more than happy to confirm your thought (not that you need it).
