My wife and I are moving the family to Atlanta. I have fallen in love with South Fulton, Camp Creek Area or even South Fulton Parkway. With my wife being a teacher, I'm not overly concerned with her commute. However, my company will be near Perimeter Mall. I know I could travel 85/75 thru the city or take 285 around the city. My question is what is the expected commute time? I do have flex time and can start between 7-9am. Is this an unreasonable commute? Please do not turn this thread into a debate on whether you like or dislike south fulton!

It is a hellish commute to go from Camp Creek up to Perimeter. However, if you can be on the road by 7am - you stand a good chance of avoiding the major traffic. Getting home will be a completely different story however.

Your best bet if you're going to do that commute would be to leave before 6am and start work at 7- trying to go in for an 8am or 9am start would be painful. The same goes for the afternoon- 75 south gets to be a mess through downtown by 4pm.

Um... you might want to reconsider South Fulton...

I mean, it's not like there aren't nicer areas here and there in that area, but there HAVE been surges in certain types of crime lately.

I live in the Grant Park area and work by Perimeter. The commute is OK in the mornings, but is AWFUL in the afternoons thanks to 400. Marta goes to Perimeter, would it be possible for you to take Marta? I take Marta here sometimes and love it.

That was going to be my suggestion. Take MARTA from, say, the College Park station and head up to Perimeter. The ride will be about 30-40 minutes, but it will save you a lot of headaches and also save on gas.

He said Southwind Greg, not Oakley Township. That development is in a COMPLETELY different area of south fulton. The South Fulton Parkway is still very nice and promises to be quite upscale. Southwind is also a huge but amazing development, I would definitely consider it

I'm thinking I'll just take the Marta and save on the headaches of stop/go traffic. At least this way, it'll be forward progress all the way home.
