Walton to develop MARTA's King Memorial project - Atlanta Business Chronicle

The 4-acre property is a parking lot that was being leased to Grady Memorial. Walton Communities would enter a ground lease with MARTA. The developer would take the next year to obtain financing and probably start work on the initial design, said Amanda Rhein, MARTA’s senior director of transit oriented development.

Assuming they are able to fill the development up with people, that's a very respectable 25000 ppsm desnity (give or take) for that single development. If MARTA duplicates that 30 more times around every station in the City proper, they'll be on to something.

It's pobably only feasible at 10 or 12 stations at most, but I agree.

Hallelujah!

It's been 35 years, but I guess it takes a while to draw up all those contracts and such.

Awesome! This will make the walk from Grant Park to the Edgewood Ave bar area a little less sketch. I wish there wasn't a year between this article and breaking ground, but glad to see it's happening!

Great news on this project moving forward. Now there needs to be interest in the other stations; Avondale, Edgewood-Candler Park, and H.E. Holmes stations.
