Some details are leaking at this point, but nothing big until the DRC meeting on January 14th. Here's the details from the meeting agenda:

NEW APPLICATION: 811 Peachtree Street
Project Type: New construction of a 35-story mixed-use project at the SE corner of Peachtree Street and 6th Street. The scope includes 391 apartment units and 25,000 SF of ground floor retail. Eight levels of structured parking will accommodate 550+ vehicles.

Supposedly the building will be designed by Perkins + Will and will have retail fronting the corner of Peachtree and 6th.

No news on potential tenants.

thanks to smArTaLlone and clexmond for the good news!

If anyone's excited about this, the plan will be revealed at the Midtown DRC Meeting, this Tuesday, January 14th at 5:30 in the 5th Floor Conference Room at 999 Peachtree, along with these other gems:

  • Follow-up meeting for 1138 Peachtree
  • Follow-up meeting for 782 Peachtree (Peachtree & 5th)
  • Follow-up meeting for 1301 Peachtree Street (One Museum Place)
AND
  • NEW APPLICATION: 734 & 744 Spring Street
Project Type: Renovation of former Arby’s restaurant into a new Starbuck’s coffee shop. The scope includes both exterior and interior modifications and the provision of drive-thru service.
  • NEW APPLICATION: Amli Arts Center
Project Type: New construction of a 30-story apartment tower with 351 units and 3,400 SF of retail. Located on the former Trump site, the project has frontage on both West Peachtree and Spring Street. Parking (551 spaces) will be provided in a separate precast parking structure fronting on Spring.

What's on that corner now? I tried to zoom in and it looks like a parking lot.

It is currently a parking lot.

This project will be great for increasing density along that stretch of Peachtree, but if it's 35 stories tall, those people who bought south-facing condo units in Viewpoint aren't going to be thrilled that their views will be blocked. Oh well.

Its the parking lot I believe kitty corner from CVS and across 6th from Viewpoint. The back side has a few restaurants like Takorea that front Juniper.

Wow, this would really be huge once everything fills out and retail and residential fills.

Publix is only 5 blocks away.

The organic grocer "Sprouts" is making in-roads into the Atlanta market. Maybe something like that could fit in that space.

True, but a sprouts/whole foods grocer is a little different, Publix has very little health brand foods (even compared to Kroger) and much less prepared healthy foods compared to a whole foods type store. Plus there are thousands of homes within blocks of that Peachtree location looking for a walkable upscale store.
