i live a few miles from the "castle house". it's quite silly. it literally looks like it's made out of legos.

Does that castle house still have gnomes all over it? I remember driving by it years ago and thinking it looked like someone won the lotto and decided to blow it on this campy design.

Gnomes are still leering over the road. I think the castle house would have benefited greatly from some landscaping. It just sits there, completely out of place. I can't imagine who will ever buy it should the elderly couple who own it pass on.

On the plus side, it makes an excellent point of reference for giving directions.

Cool pics here Tiki!
I see the broken Fed Ex plane parts every day as I commute on I-75.
The photo of it here has a map reference to a road called "Airline Museum Way". That may explain the presence of the plane bits in that parking lot but what purpose they serve I cannot guess.
Does anyone know anything about such a museum?
Fed Ex also has a large facility to the southeast of that specific area.

There is a museum down that way,I don't think there's much to it.
Air Museum - Aviation Museum - National Museum of Commercial Aviation

Apparently Delta has a museum too

I've always wondered what the deal was with the parking lot of place pieces. Really bizarre.

Never heard of or seen the castle house. That is fascinating. It's not even impressive. It looks very plain and uninspiring. Maybe building codes kept the height down, but it looks like it sank into the ground.

Here are some of my faves from around the metro that probably most of the public has not seen.

Staff and Troop Rows at Fort Mac

Arabia Mountain the "Little Stone Mountain"

A huge granite quarry just south of the Airport

The MASSIVE Inman Train Yard

Nice!
Ill add another quarry, this one on the other side of the airport south.
https://maps.google.com/?ll=33.60516...04823&t=h&z=18

There is a cliff RIGHT on the edge of I-85 south. I used to drive by this all the time. You would never know this was there just driving by. Once I saw this, I started making sure I was in one of the left lanes

War
I've spotted that quarry off of I-75 south from my Xpress bus. It's about 2 miles south of the plane parts featured here earlier but on the opposite side of I-75.
It's cool to ride & not drive & have the freedom to look around as much as you care to. Nevertheless, it took almost 2 years of commuting in that manner before I spotted the quarry as it's hidden pretty well from normal viewing from the interstate.
As for the Inman Rail Yards, that is an engineering marvel!
Using the direction locator on that photo, if you give a couple of tweaks to your mouse toward the photo bottom, the view will move to the south. There you will see another quarry which was used as a camp site near the conclusion of the first season of The Walking Dead. At one or 2 points Rick and others were walking in a rail line corridor too. It's anyone's guess which line on the map they used.
