With the great press and popularity the Beltline has received, hopefully it won't be too hard to find a partner. I know there's not a lot of detail out there just yet, but this sounds like it is exactly what I have been hoping for.

Is this just talk or is this forreal? I don't want to be 50 and see no rail on the beltline when I come back to visit the city.

What are you using as a source? I mean, it makes sense to go ahead and use a p3 to build and operate all new transit in Atlanta, but you sound specific.

I agree with mayor on this, although he's a lot younger than I am.

“We’re going to have to have a public private partnership,” Reed said. “We’re going to need to partner with an investor to put up $3 [billion] to $4 billion to put up the rail component. … I believe that is the right way to go because I’d like to ride the light rail while I’m alive.

If they can get it done within 20-25 years I might make it.

Always thought you were probably in your 30s or 40s.

The question is. Can Reed leverage his national and international connections to get the Beltline rail DEAL done in less than 3 years. Then take the next ~ 5 - 10 to complete the entire project. The accomplishment would be along the lines of Hartsfield getting the airport, or Allen (?) that got the major league teams to Atlanta.

Yep.

And he knows it will be huge. I can't think of a single project that would have a greater tangible impact on the city as a whole. I know if I were mayor, this would be my proudest accomplishment.
