saw a short news segment about a new wal-mart in the decatur area with people protesting. I did not hear the particulars outside of people not wanting them to build. What can anyone tell me about this Wal-mart and when and where it is suppose to be erected? also, why are people protesting as though it will make a difference? Its wal-mart from what ive seen they do as they please regardless of folks feelings and they get their way.

I don't see any particular reason to protest Walmart per se. If you don't like it, don't shop there.

However, it's totally valid to insist on compliance with local zoning codes. It also makes perfect sense to advocate for a more urban, pedestrian-friendly form of development, as opposed to the typical "big-box-in-a-sea-of-parking" that you often see with Walmart and similar stores.

Different strokes for different folks. I'm sure there are plenty of people who really like huge parking lots with big box stores.
