Please share your thoughts on comparing these two good cities on the following parameters..

1. Good Elementary schools , Quality of education
2. Information Technology jobs
3. Public transport facilities - train / bus
4. Apartment rentals cost / cost of living
5. Overall safety / crime rate..

If you can recommend some good neighborhoods based on these parameters in both the cities, it will be very helpful.

Thank you...

Charlotte/Atlanta comparisons have been done to death on these boards.

Just search existing threads that cover these aspects on each city's forum and then make a decision.

1)About the same
2)Atlanta by far
3)Atlanta by far...much better transit system..
4)About the same
5)Atlanta is more dangerous in the city, but metro is probably about the same.

Atlanta is bigger, has many more amenities, a much-larger airport (the busiest passenger airport on the planet with over 95 million passengers coming through the Atlanta Airport each year), is much more diverse and has a much better job market as the unemployment rate continues to hover at about a full percentage higher in Charlotte than in Atlanta and the economy is still substantially more diversified in Atlanta than in Charlotte where much of the focus is on banking/finance.

Atlanta is also a rising star in the entertainment industry as the city already holds a very-dominant position in the music industry and has a film and television industry that is growing at a shockingly-fast rate and is improbably becoming much more of a threat to the traditional home of the film/TV industry in Southern California than anyone could have ever imagined because of the much lower cost of filming in Georgia compared to the high costs of filming in California.

Atlanta has a much more robust nightlife than Charlotte, Atlanta has more wealth than Charlotte and Atlanta likely has better public schools than Charlotte at selected spots, particularly on the Northside in parts of Cobb (East Cobb), Cherokee, Forsyth, North Fulton and Gwinnett counties.

The Atlanta metro region (6.1 million people, roughly 30 counties) is also about nearly three times as large as the Charlotte metro region (2.4 million people, 16 counties) so it is kind of hard to truly compare the two cities, though in the minds of many nationally, Atlanta and Charlotte are often mistaken to be very much alike when that could not be further from the truth.

Atlanta and Charlotte are two very different cities, the only similarities between them are that they are both located in the Southeastern U.S., but after that the similarities pretty much stop.

If I remember correctly, Charlotte has zero schools that were nationally ranked add Atlanta had over 20 in the metro area.

And it's definitely obvious Atlanta has more wealth than Charlotte. Charlotte is almost redneck sans a few banking towers in downtown.

Someone has presumably a serious inquiry about two cities and once again Atlanta forumers post with incredible insecurity. Yes there are vast differences, but come on...

Charlotte does have some good schools: Providence, Audrey Kell, Butler (OK), Myers Park (OK), Weddington, Marvin Ridge, etc... Schools are good Union County and some in Cabarrus. But I will say that metro Atlanta has better school options, parks, etc.. Charlotte's housing is not as nice as there is a love affair with vinyl, but crime is lower than Atlanta - but highier than expected. Not as many amenities and the night life is below average if you compare to Atlanta. Compare the night light Dover, DE and Charlotte is hot. There are things to do in Charlotte, but it depends on your expectations and what you are looking for. Charlotte is cleaner and easier to get around. Atlanta is very sprawled. Just spend some time in both Metro's and make up your own mind.

"If I remember correctly, Charlotte has zero schools that were nationally ranked add Atlanta had over 20 in the metro area."

Providence, Audrey Kell, Marvin Ridge, Weddington, and Hough are superior schools and compare to metro Atlanta's top schools. But since metro Atlanta is much larger ad much more developed (even the exurbs), there are way more school options. That comes with the sprawl though if one decides to live in Cherokee County. Almost every HS in Cherokee County would compare to Charlotte's top schools. Take that same comparison and add some of Cobb, Gwinnett, Fulton, Forsyth, Fayette schools.
